The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, after a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stated that Moscow supports the legitimacy of the elected government in Serbia and has always supported the entity of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Vučić said that he discussed with the Russian president on March 7th the situation in Serbia and the region, as well as other important issues, including the achievement of a new gas agreement with Russia and the issue of U.S. sanctions on Serbia’s Oil Industry (NIS).

He also confirmed his meeting with Putin in Moscow on May 9th.

In a video address posted on his Instagram account, Vučić mentioned that he spoke with the Russian president about “the attempt for a color revolution in Serbia.”

“Russia understands and sees very well what is happening and will continue to support the legitimate and democratically elected authorities in Serbia,” Vučić said.

Officials in Belgrade are labeling the months-long protests in Serbia, organized to demand accountability for the deaths of 15 people in the collapse of a concrete shelter at the Novi Sad railway station, as an attempt at a color revolution.
