US President Donald Trump spoke after the Canadian province of Ontario announced it would charge American families 25% more for electricity in response to US tariffs.
“Despite Canada imposing US tariffs of 250% to 390% on many of our agricultural products, Ontario just announced an additional 25% tariff on electricity, and this is not allowed to happen.
Since the tariffs are reciprocal, we will respond accordingly on April 2. Canada is a country that abuses tariffs and has always done so, but the United States will no longer subsidize Canada. We don’t need your cars, we don’t need your wood, we don’t need your energy, and you’ll find that out very soon. ‘LET’S MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!’” Trump wrote.
It is worth mentioning that last week, Trump initially imposed a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, but later suspended them until April 2. He claims that the tariffs are a response to the unacceptable flow of illegal drugs and undocumented immigrants into the US from the two neighboring countries.
