Seven individuals who went missing during the Kosovo war have been identified following DNA analysis and final identification by the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML).
The victims were executed during the Kralan Massacre, one of the most severe crimes committed by Serbian forces in Kosovo.
The Government Commission on Missing Persons has confirmed the identification and has informed the families of the victims. According to the statement, the remains were exhumed from a mass grave in Bishtazhin.
“The Government Commission on Missing Persons, in cooperation with the Institute of Forensic Medicine, has notified the families of the seven victims of the Kralan Massacre regarding the identification of their loved ones.
After completing DNA analyses and the final identification process, seven victims executed during the Kralan Massacre—one of the most serious crimes committed by Serbian forces—have been identified. The remains were exhumed from the mass grave in Bishtazhin, and the final identification process is ongoing for five other missing persons,” the statement read.
The families have the right to decide on the date and place of reburial, with the Government Commission on Missing Persons offering full support for all their needs, including the reburial ceremony.
