Serbia’s Minister of Defense, Bratislav Gashiq, has expressed his concern regarding the support that some NATO member states are providing to Kosovo in building its military capabilities.

Gashiq made these comments during a meeting in Belgrade with the Commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Admiral Stuart Munsch.

According to the Serbian Ministry of Defense, one of the main topics of the discussion was Kosovo, where Gashiq expressed his opposition to what he called the “unilateral moves” of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, which, according to Gashiq, are “directed against Serbia and the Serbian community,” Serbian media report.

One of the issues discussed was the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into an army, which Gashiq said is in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

He stated that Serbia will continue to follow a clear policy of dialogue and peace, positioning itself as a reliable and predictable partner.

He also conveyed Belgrade’s concerns about the lack of approval for documents that would formally regulate the cooperation between Serbia and NATO.

On the other hand, Admiral Munsch emphasized that the Western Balkans remains a strategically important region for NATO and reiterated the Alliance’s commitment to stability in the region.

He added that KFOR remains engaged in carrying out its mandate in Kosovo.
