Kurti Meets with New Secretary-General of the Regional Cooperation Council, Discusses Berlin Process

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met today with the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanović, to discuss regional cooperation and the economic integration of the region.

Key topics of the discussion included the Berlin Process, the Regional Common Market (CRM), and the Green Agenda.

Prime Minister Kurti congratulated the Secretary-General on his new position and reiterated Kosovo’s support for the RCC in promoting regional cooperation.

“Emphasizing the importance of equality in regional organizations, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for fair representation in leadership positions and staff at the RCC and encouraged the organization of more RCC activities in Pristina. The Prime Minister expressed Kosovo’s commitment to the CRM2 Action Plan and underscored the importance of progress in implementing mobility agreements reached within the framework of the Berlin Process, so that they bring concrete benefits to citizens,” the statement reads.

Since January 1st of this year, Kosovo has unilaterally begun implementing the agreement on free movement with ID cards with Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has increased mobility of Bosnian citizens towards Kosovo.

This decision contributes to the increase in mobility of citizens and regional cooperation. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina ratifying the free movement agreement with ID cards, as part of the obligations made under the Berlin Process and in the interest of increasing mobility between the citizens of Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as deepening regional economic cooperation and integration.
