Kosovo’s football team won the first match of the playoff for promotion to League B of the Nations League.

On Thursday evening at the packed “Fadil Vokrri” stadium in Pristina, the “Dardanians” won 2-1.

Kosovo was more active at the beginning of the match and deservedly took the lead.

CSKA Sofia center-back Lumbardh Dellova received a pass from Amir Rrahmani and with a precise shot defeated the opposing goalkeeper in the 19th minute. It was his second goal for Kosovo.

But the joy lasted only three minutes.

After a quick counterattack, captain Orri Oskarsson equalized the score to 1-1 in the 22nd minute.

A beautiful goal for Kosovo was also scored by Augsburg midfielder Elvis Rexhbeçaj. Rexhbeçaj scored in the 58th minute with a precise shot from a distance, aided by the goalpost. It was his first goal for Kosovo in his sixth match.

Kosovo had a goal disallowed in the 76th minute by captain Amir Rrahmani.

Goalkeeper Arijanet Muriq also played a significant role in Kosovo’s victory with several important saves.

On Thursday, Kosovo also saw the debut of Vesel Demaku, the midfielder from Austria’s Bundesliga team Altach.

Kosovo will play the return match on March 23 in Murcia, Spain, as the stadium in Reykjavik, where Iceland plays its matches, is under renovation.
