A serious traffic accident with fatal consequences occurred today around 6:45 PM in the village of Baballoq, Deçan.
According to the police, one of the injured individuals was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital by the medical team. The other injured individuals were treated at the Regional Hospital in Peja, while one person was transferred to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK) in Prishtina due to the severity of their injuries.
Kosovo Police stated that the accident is believed to have happened when one vehicle, traveling on the Deçan–Gjakova road, veered into the opposite lane upon reaching Baballoq village and collided head-on with an oncoming car traveling in the Gjakova–Deçan direction.
By order of the state prosecutor, the suspected driver has been detained for 48 hours, and the body of the victim was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Prishtina for autopsy. The case is currently being investigated by the traffic accident investigators of NJRKRR-DRP Peja.
