Today, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, a session of the UN Security Council will be held to discuss the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During this session, the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, will report on the latest developments in the Balkan country.
Meanwhile, the government of the Bosnian Serb entity, the Republic of Srpska, has submitted a parallel report in which it claims that the leadership of the RS “acts with the aim of preserving the Dayton Peace Agreement, which the Republic of Srpska fully respects, as well as the Constitution of BiH, which is an integral part of it.”
In their report, the authorities of this entity harshly criticize Christian Schmidt, calling him “illegal” and claiming that “instead of respecting the Dayton Peace Agreement, its spirit was arbitrarily interpreted, with decisions imposed by foreigners, particularly Christian Schmidt.”
They further defend actions taken by the RS Assembly, arguing that they were a response to the political persecution of Milorad Dodik, stating that “the procedures and decisions adopted in the Assembly aimed at restoring the competences belonging to the Republic of Srpska according to the Constitution were a response to the ‘illegal’ attempt to imprison RS President Milorad Dodik and undermine the institutions of the Republic of Srpska.”
