Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described his meeting in Italy with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as “good.”
The trio discussed the recent peace talks in Istanbul, where Zelensky criticized Russia for sending a low-level delegation without decision-making power. He reiterated Ukraine’s readiness for genuine diplomacy and emphasized the urgent need for a full and unconditional ceasefire.
Zelensky also expressed gratitude to the American people for their support and leadership in saving lives.
This was the first meeting between Zelensky and Vance since their February disagreement in the Oval Office, where Vance criticized Zelensky for a perceived lack of appreciation for U.S. aid.
