The workers of the regional waste management company “Pastrimi” remain on strike outside the Prishtina Municipality building, now on their fourth day, reports Ekonomia Online.
The company has stopped waste collection due to a 2.7 million euro unpaid debt allegedly owed by the Municipality. However, the Municipality denies owing this debt and accuses “Pastrimi” of sabotage and politicizing the workers.
Meanwhile, the capital city is accumulating garbage, raising public health concerns, and the Prosecutor’s Office has become involved to gather information on the situation.
The strike aims to express dissatisfaction and demand an urgent financial solution due to the critical financial situation of “Pastrimi” caused by non-payment from the Municipality, according to the union.
