A large wildfire affecting several villages in the Vergo Administrative Unit of Delvinë municipality in southern Albania continues to rage, euronewsalbania reports.
The blaze, which erupted in the villages of Kalasa, Tatzat, Senicë, Vergo, Kopaçëz, and Palavli, remains active, with major hotspots currently burning on the hill facing Palavli and in the area above the dairy plant in Kopaçëz. Authorities suspect the fire may have spread to the mountains above Borsh as well.
🔥 Mass Evacuations and Heavy Damage
As a precautionary measure, over 2,000 residents from the six affected villages were evacuated the previous day to safeguard lives and property.
Preliminary reports indicate:
11 homes have been destroyed
The historic Church of Saint Demetrius (Shën Dhimitri) in Senicë has burned down
Extensive agricultural land, olive groves, orchards, and livestock have been lost

Three individuals have suffered burn injuries due to the fire. Local authorities and emergency response units remain on the ground, working to assess the damage and bring active fire zones under control.
