With just days remaining before the new school year starts, funds for student textbook subsidies have not been disbursed. The Ministry of Education has not provided an official statement regarding when payments will reach parents and guardians who applied through the e-Kosova platform.
Acting Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, acknowledged the number of applications but did not specify a timeline for releasing funds.
This delay has created uncertainty for many families, particularly as the school year is about to start.
Rrahman Jasharaj, head of the teachers’ union SBASHK, raised serious concerns about delays in delivering textbooks.
“The problem is similar to previous years concerning textbooks. In the past two years, more than a month of school time was lost while waiting for all students to receive their books. Acting Minister Arbërie Nagavci and her staff are repeating the same mistake. Now the delays are evident, and parents face account blockages and other issues. Similar problems are likely to occur again,” Jasharaj said.
He warned that teachers will face difficulties if students do not receive textbooks on time:
“The disbursement of funds has been delayed, specifically for school textbooks. Teachers cannot start lessons until all students are supplied with books,” he emphasized.
