Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has congratulated the residents of South and North Mitrovica following the opening of the new bridge over the Ibër River.
The bridge for vehicular traffic was officially opened today at 9:00 AM, according to KosovaPress.
Kurti stated:
“It took less than two months to construct the 36th bridge in Kosovo over the Ibër River. The bridge for vehicle passage is open as of 9:00 AM. Congratulations to the residents and citizens of South and North Mitrovica! Kudos to the company and workers for their exemplary dedication. Construction on the next bridge continues.”
The announcement was also shared by Acting Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla, who wrote on Facebook:
“Dear citizens of Mitrovica and all of Kosovo, congratulations on the new bridge.”
Deputy Acting Minister of Infrastructure, Hysen Durmishi, shared a video celebrating the bridge’s opening:
“Congratulations Mitrovica! Congratulations to all citizens of Kosovo! Let’s enjoy the new bridge.”
Kosovar authorities began the construction of two bridges on both sides of the main Ibër River crossing, despite international community reactions and opposition from Serbs in the north.
