Valmir Elezi, spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), confirmed that Kosovo is currently in the preparatory phase of the electoral process. He emphasized that the institution is working to address the challenges encountered in previous elections in order to eliminate them in the upcoming vote.
Speaking to GazetaBlic, Elezi explained that immediately after the announcement of the election date, the CEC undertook the necessary legal steps for the preparation of the electoral process and approved a comprehensive plan covering all stages until the publication of preliminary results.
“The CEC is in the preparatory phase of the electoral process and is currently addressing the challenges faced in the last elections. In this regard, work is being done on preparing the electronic platform for the transmission of preliminary results after the counting of ballots at polling stations. This platform will also serve for entering data from the counting of ballots at the Municipal Counting Centers,” Elezi said.
He confirmed that the preliminary results for mayoral candidates and political entities competing for municipal assemblies will be published on October 12, 2025.
Elezi underlined that all current efforts of the CEC are focused on organizing the Local Elections, which include two categories: elections for Mayors of Municipalities and for Municipal Assemblies.
“This is a complicated process that requires significant engagement from the CEC, as the management of local elections demands strong coordination and oversight to ensure everything proceeds according to established rules and deadlines,” Elezi concluded.
