A person with the initials D.N. was arrested on Monday at the border crossing in Dheu i Bardhë, suspected of involvement in war crimes against the civilian population during the Kosovo war.
According to a joint statement by the Special Prosecution and the Kosovo Police, the arrest was carried out under the order of the Special Prosecution by investigators of the Directorate for War Crimes Investigations.
Preliminary investigations suggest that between April 13 – April 30, 1999, D.N., together with members of Serbian police and military forces, allegedly participated in the killing of 25 Albanian civilians in the municipality of Gjilan.
The prosecution confirmed that after the arrest, D.N. was taken into custody and will be brought before the Basic Court in Prishtina, Special Department, where a detention order will be requested.
