The Basic Court in Prishtina has opened the initial trial against Jelena Gjukanović, who is accused of espionage.
Gjukanović was arrested on February 28, 2025, and on March 2 the Basic Court in Prishtina imposed one month of pre-trial detention.
Her detention was later extended for another two months. On March 2, 2025, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo confirmed that the suspect is a member of the OSCE.
“We are in contact with their legal representative and are closely monitoring their well-being in line with our mandate. The Mission is in contact both with the relevant institutions and with the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna to ensure that due process is respected,” the OSCE statement read.
