KFOR Commander Enrico Barduani stated that the path to sustainable security in Kosovo is not military, but political.

He made this statement during his final briefing in this role before the NATO Military Committee and the North Atlantic Council at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Barduani shared his assessment of the security situation in Kosovo, emphasizing KFOR’s continued commitment to stability and its support for diplomatic efforts, with a particular focus on the EU-facilitated dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.

“Among KFOR’s achievements, Barduani highlighted the strengthening of the mission, including the temporary deployment of reserve forces, and deepened cooperation with the international community, Kosovo security organizations, and the Serbian Armed Forces,” the statement noted.

During his visit, he also met with General Seán Clancy, Chair of the EU Military Committee, to discuss KFOR’s cooperation with EULEX operations and EUFOR Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
