Kosovo Police conducted a major operation this morning in Vushtrri, targeting members of the Gërbeshi family suspected of involvement in loan sharking.
The Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica reported that the operation involved three locations: two in the village of Ropicë and one within Vushtrri city.
“Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the criminal offense of coercion, including one who was already wanted. Additionally, one person who was previously at large for minor bodily injury and escape from custody has been apprehended,” the prosecution stated.
According to Insajderi, the operation was conducted by police from other regions due to suspicions of local police involvement in the case.
Earlier reports indicate that the Gërbeshi family has a history of violent actions linked to loan sharking and property disputes. Victim Liridon Osmani told Insajderi that he was brutally attacked by masked members of the family while accompanying his daughter to school.
The police operation appears to be part of a wider effort to tackle organized crime and illegal lending practices in the region.
