A tragic traffic accident occurred on the evening of Saturday on Wesley Klark Street in Gjakova, resulting in the death of one individual.
Authorities have identified the victim as Nikollë Perkaj, the mayoral candidate for Gjakova representing the Balli Kombëtar Shqiptar (Albanian National Front Party).
According to the Kosovo Police 24-hour report, Perkaj allegedly lost control of his vehicle while driving a locally registered car. The vehicle reportedly left the road, struck a metal fence, and then ended up in the outdoor area of a restaurant.
“At the scene, the on-duty physician confirmed the death of the victim,” the police report states.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
