Today marks 27 years since the heroic fall of Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) commander Fehmi Lladrovci and his wife, Xhevë Krasniqi-Lladrovci, who was also among the first women fighters of the KLA.

The couple, Fehmi and Xhevë Lladrovci, were among the most emblematic figures of the organization and the struggle for freedom in Kosovo. They fell on September 22, 1998, in a difficult and unequal battle against Serbian forces, after a heroic resistance by Fehmi, Xhevë, and other KLA fighters in the fortifications established in Çiçavicë.

Along with them, student Fatime Hetemi and many other martyrs also fell. Fehmi Lladrovci was the commander of the KLA’s 114th Brigade, which later carried his name. In the central square of Drenas, statues of martyrs Fehmi and Xhevë Lladrovci stand as a tribute to their sacrifice.
