France is expected today, September 22, to officially announce the recognition of the State of Palestine, a step that would mark a major diplomatic development on the international stage.
The news was confirmed by Olivier Faure, MP and First Secretary of the Socialist Party, who called for the Palestinian flag to be raised in all French municipalities on this historic day as a symbolic act of support.
However, the initiative has faced opposition from the Ministry of the Interior, which has warned that legal measures could be taken against mayors who choose to display municipal buildings in the colors of the Palestinian flag.
Despite this, Faure has urged President Emmanuel Macron to maintain a firm and clear stance before the international community and not to give in to internal political pressures.
