September 22, 2025 – Former UK Labour Party adviser Reg Pula has called on Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to recognize Kosovo, following Spain’s recognition of Palestine.
In a post on X, Pula noted that Sánchez welcomed the recognition of Palestine by the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, stating that Spain’s decision paved the way for other countries to follow.
“However, Spain’s non-recognition of Kosovo reinforces instability in an already unstable part of Europe,” Pula wrote.
Pula, who is also director of Rud Petersen, a European strategic communications body, emphasized that if Europe’s security is to remain central to UK strategy, Madrid must be involved in Kosovo’s recognition process.
This call highlights ongoing diplomatic efforts to expand recognition of Kosovo within the European Union.
