Mike Waltz, the new U.S. envoy to the United Nations, addressed recent allegations of Russian airspace violations during a UN Security Council meeting.

Waltz stated that the United States had warned Russia to “halt actions that could escalate into a broader conflict” after U.S. drones reportedly violated Polish airspace nine days ago.

Despite the warning, Waltz said, Russia again violated the airspace of a NATO member.

In a particularly firm statement, Waltz emphasized:

“I want to use this first opportunity to reiterate and stress that the United States and our allies will defend every inch of NATO territory. Russia must urgently stop such dangerous behavior.”

He also called on Russia, as a permanent member of the Security Council, to support international peace and security, respect the sovereignty of its neighbors, cease airspace violations, and engage directly with Ukraine to end the war.
