President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, in an interview with Fox News, expressed her gratitude to the Trump administration for its efforts in preventing destabilizing actions by Serbia toward Kosovo.

Osmani highlighted that some members of the Serbian leadership still wish to return to past conflicts, referencing the Banjskë terrorist attack in 2023 and the attack in Ibër Lepenc.

“President Trump truly helped us support and maintain peace, saving lives in the process,” Osmani stated.

She further emphasized the historical support of the United States for Kosovo:

“We are one of the most pro-American peoples in the world. Since 1999, when American troops came to save our lives, the U.S. has stood by us. We exist as an independent and sovereign state thanks to the United States, who did not turn a blind eye to our suffering and the genocide occurring at that time. They came to save us and believed in our right to be free.”

Osmani also addressed ongoing security challenges posed by Serbia:

“We have a neighbor that occasionally causes problems. In the past, Serbia triggered multiple conflicts in the Western Balkans under the leadership of the ‘Butcher of the Balkans,’ Milosevic. Even today, some in the Serbian leadership wish to return to the past. President Trump truly helped in supporting peace, maintaining stability, and saving lives. We have faced multiple escalation attempts in the last two years. In 2023, we confronted an act of aggression from Serbia, which we managed to repel with NATO allies’ support. However, threats continue. This administration has done an excellent job preventing further escalation,” Osmani said.

Her remarks underline Kosovo’s reliance on international support and the ongoing challenges in regional security, emphasizing the importance of proactive diplomacy and strong alliances.
