The Italian government has announced that it is ready to consider recognizing the State of Palestine, but only under two key conditions:
1️⃣ The release of all hostages.
2️⃣ The exclusion of Hamas from any governing process or structure in Palestinian territories.
The announcement was made through statements from the parliamentary majority, which is expected to present a formal motion in the Chamber of Deputies outlining these two preconditions.
“We must understand what the priorities are,” said a representative of the majority. “I am not against the recognition of Palestine, but it must be done with clarity and standards. I hope this position will gain support from the opposition as well; certainly, it will not gain support from Hamas or Islamist extremists, but it should gain backing from those who think responsibly.”
