The Deputy Chairman of the Serb List, Slavko Simić, and the other defendant, Uroš Vukasinović, pleaded not guilty during the initial hearing at the Basic Court in Mitrovica in a case related to attacks against Albanian journalists during the protests in Leposaviq on June 16, 2023, reports Ekonomia Online.
In his statement before the judicial panel, Simić denied the charges, saying:
“Your Honor, I am absolutely not guilty.”
Vukasinović also rejected the accusations, declaring:
“I do not admit guilt because I am innocent.”
According to the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, both defendants are charged with inciting violence against Kosovo media journalists during the Leposaviq protests, where several media representatives were injured and material damage was caused to their equipment and vehicles.
During today’s hearing, Prosecutor Ajtene Zoni read the indictment, charging them with the criminal offenses of:
- “Participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism,” and
- “Assault,” under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
