Fatmir Sheholli, who was arrested on suspicion of espionage, has been returned from the hospital to the Detention Center in Gjilan, authorities confirmed.

“After several examinations and treatments at the Gjilan Hospital, he has been transferred back to the Detention Center,” said Florent Gashi, spokesperson for the Kosovo Correctional Service, to reporteri.net.

Sheholli had requested medical assistance on October 11 and was hospitalized at the Gjilan Hospital before being transferred to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK) on October 13.

The Basic Court in Prishtina has ordered one month of pretrial detention for Sheholli, who was arrested on October 9.

According to the Prosecutor’s case file, Sheholli allegedly gathered information about so-called Serbian properties under occupation in Kosovo and transmitted this information to the Serbian Intelligence Agency (BIA) through phone communications.

The prosecution further claims that, under the instructions and plans of a person identified as Dimic, Sheholli, on September 26 in North Mitrovica, received materials including audio recordings and transcripts of conversations between officials of the Ministry for Communities and Return, suspected to be compromising. He also allegedly received a sum of money as a reward for their publication, which were later released on online media platforms in Kosovo.

According to the Prosecution, through these actions, Sheholli intentionally and knowingly assisted the BIA, implementing its instructions and thereby endangering the security, legal order, and integrity of Kosovo, as well as the safety of its officials and citizens.

These actions constitute the criminal offense of “Espionage” under Article 124, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (KPRK).

During the police raid on October 9, several electronic devices, documents, and other materials were seized from Sheholli’s apartment, which have since been sent for forensic examination.
