Xhafer Tahiri has announced his resignation as Chair of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) branch in Vushtrri, citing the need to allow new energy and leadership within the party.

In a heartfelt statement, Tahiri emphasized that his decision is motivated by commitment to the city and party rather than fatigue or disappointment. He pledged to continue working actively within the LDK’s Central Presidency and General Council.

“Leadership is not only about taking charge, but also knowing when to make way for new energy and a new chapter for the party,” Tahiri said.

Tahiri reflected on his political journey, which began in 2009 with the leadership of the youth wing of LDK in Vushtrri, progressing through various roles, including Mayor of Vushtrri from 2017 to 2021. He highlighted the achievements during his tenure and the trust placed in him by voters, especially in the 2017 elections, when he became the only LDK candidate to win in Region 02 (Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Skënderaj, and North Kosovo) in 20 years.

Despite acknowledging that the 2025 electoral results were below expectations, Tahiri underscored that the value of collective work, cooperation, and commitment to the community remains undiminished.

“LDK for me is not just a party. It is a value. It is a mandate. It is the journey of life. My commitment to Vushtrri and the party continues, even if I step down from this position,” he stated.

Tahiri expressed deep gratitude to supporters, party members, and citizens for their trust and collaboration over the years and reiterated his dedication to advancing Vushtrri and strengthening the LDK.
