Gëzim Sveçla, representative of the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) in Prishtina, sharply criticized Mayor Përparim Rama and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), stating that citizens of Prishtina are now facing the second consecutive day without public transport services due to what he described as the mayor’s “failed policies.”

Speaking at a press conference, Sveçla argued that Mayor Rama’s decision to convene a session of the previous municipal legislature is a “clear admission of guilt”, and accused him of engaging in “theatrical performances” instead of addressing the real problems faced by Urban Traffic workers.

“Prishtina Is Being Held Hostage by Rama’s Mismanagement”

“The situation in the capital is extraordinary. This is the second day that Prishtina’s citizens are deprived of public transport services, all as a result of the political approach of Përparim Rama and the Democratic League of Kosovo led by Lumir Abdixhiku,” Sveçla stated.

He added that even Rama’s appearance among protesting Urban Traffic workers was “nothing more than a theatrical act,” describing his behavior as “bandit-like,” shouting ‘bring the money, bring the money,’ in front of employees who, as Sveçla claimed, already know where the real responsibility lies.

Sveçla: President’s Statement Exposes LDK’s Narrative

Sveçla emphasized that President Vjosa Osmani’s recent statement — in which she confirmed that Prime Minister Albin Kurti was ready to facilitate the approval of Prishtina’s budget, while other parties were not — “completely dismantles the false narrative of LDK and Përparim Rama.”

According to Sveçla, Kurti was even prepared to withdraw the Kosovo state budget for 2026 from the Assembly vote solely to ensure that Prishtina’s municipal budget and several international agreements could be approved.

“This clearly exposes the truth. Përparim Rama has shown no empathy whatsoever toward the workers or the citizens of Prishtina,” Sveçla said. “These theatrical scenes are nothing but a personal show. The facts fully demask his and Abdixhiku’s claims regarding the alleged blockade of Prishtina’s budget by the Government of Kosovo.”
