Mayor of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni, provided clarification regarding the budget issue. Hyseni stated that Gjilan, like Prishtina, is facing the problem of an unapproved budget, but their approach to managing it has been entirely different.
Hyseni emphasized that the lack of an approved budget and operating with 1/12 of the previous year’s budget has been and continues to be a significant challenge. Nevertheless, he confirmed that a constitutive session will soon be convened and that a vote will be held to transfer own-source funds to cover existing obligations.
“Gjilan, just like the capital, is dealing with the issue of an unapproved budget, but our management approach has been completely different. We have fully respected the legislation and have not engaged in commitments without financial coverage. The lack of an approved budget and operating with 1/12 of last year’s budget has been and continues to be very challenging. However, very soon we will convene the constitutive session and vote on transferring own-source funds to cover existing obligations,” Hyseni stated.
