Despite 28 November being a national holiday in Kosovo marking Albania’s Independence Day, the Specialist Chambers in The Hague will proceed today with a scheduled hearing in the case of Hashim Thaçi. The court has set a session for this symbolic date, which also marks the anniversary of the Kosovo Liberation Army’s (KLA) public emergence.
The hearing, set to begin at 09:30 and continue until 16:00, will serve as a pre-trial conference, where Thaçi faces charges of obstruction of justice. Alongside him, Fadil Fazliu, Isni Kilaj, Bashkim Smakaj, and Hajredin Kuçi are also accused.
The Organization of KLA War Veterans has openly criticized the decision to schedule the session on 28 November, expressing dissatisfaction and frustration with the approach taken by the Specialist Chambers.
