Kosovar karateka Islam Selmani has made history by winning the silver medal in the under-60 kg category at the World Karate Championship held in Cairo, Egypt.
In an extraordinary final, Selmani faced Eray Samdan of Turkey, one of the most renowned and formidable competitors in international karate. After a fierce duel, Selmani secured second place, claiming the silver medal.
Selmani had showcased his dominance a day earlier in the semifinals, defeating Uzbekistani karateka Mekhriddin Turakhonov with a decisive 9:1 score.
This remarkable achievement makes Selmani the first Kosovar karateka to win a silver medal at the World Karate Championship, marking one of the greatest successes in the history of Kosovar sport.
