The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MPJD) has announced that, in the early hours of this morning, Nexhat Pireva, a Kosovo citizen from Kamenica and a former member of the Kosovo Police for around 14 years, was arrested by Serbian authorities at the Dheu i Bardhë border crossing.

According to the MPJD, Pireva was traveling toward Bujanoc together with his wife and children when he was detained.

After being questioned for approximately four hours, Pireva was released and is now in freedom and safe, the ministry confirmed.

The MPJD strongly condemned the continued actions of Serbian authorities, describing them as mistreatment of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and actions that violate agreements signed between the two states.

The ministry also issued a clear warning to Kosovo citizens:
“The MPJD urges the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to avoid traveling through the territory of Serbia until further notice, in order to ensure their safety.”
