Police have provided details regarding a fire incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday in the village of Ratkoc, Rahovec municipality, which resulted in significant material damage, including to a healthcare facility.
According to Sheremet Elezaj, spokesperson for the Gjakova regional police, the fire engulfed and completely destroyed an ambulance belonging to the Family Medical Center (FMC/QMF) in the village.
“At approximately 02:40, a fire incident was reported in Ratkoc–Rahovec. Police units and firefighters immediately responded to the scene, where the fire had spread and burned an ambulance at the Family Medical Center,” Elezaj told Klankosova.tv.
Damage to medical facility, no injuries reported
As a result of the blaze, damage was also caused to the FMC building itself, although authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.
“The fire was successfully localized, and there were no consequences for human life,” Elezaj added.
Case classified as arson
Following consultations with the State Prosecutor, the case has been officially initiated as “arson.”
“We are currently searching for a suspect, and all necessary investigative actions are being undertaken to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident,” Elezaj stated.
Police investigations are ongoing as authorities work to identify and apprehend the individual suspected of setting the fire.
