The son of Nicolás Maduro, Venezuelan congressman Nicolás Maduro Guerra, has criticized the U.S. operation to detain his parents in his first public address since they were taken into custody, the BBC reported, as cited by Rks News.

“If we normalize the abduction of a head of state, no country is safe,” Maduro Guerra said. “Today it is Venezuela. Tomorrow, it could be any nation that refuses to submit. This is not a regional issue. It is a direct threat to global political stability.”

Maduro Guerra is also calling on the United States to release his parents and has condemned Washington for including his name in the indictment.
