Many cities across Kosovo are facing a critical situation today due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall.

The Mayor of Malishevë, Ekrem Kastrati, stated that the situation in his municipality is particularly severe around the Mirusha River.

Kastrati emphasized that the municipal authorities have mobilized all available resources to assist affected residents and added that once the situation stabilizes, a commission will be formed to assess the damages caused in the municipality.

“The situation is very serious. We have had extraordinary heavy rainfall, especially along the Mirusha River, which has turned into a problematic waterway. Residents living around this river have been particularly affected, with significant flooding. I hope that in the coming days, or by tomorrow, a commission will be formed to document all the damages and, if possible, compensate citizens affected by this disaster,” Kastrati stated.

He further noted that all emergency teams in Malishevë are on the ground providing assistance to residents in need during this exceptional situation.

“All emergency teams are in the field to offer help to all citizens in need,” Kastrati concluded.
