“Kosovo police last night detained the principal of an elementary school from Gojbula at the border point in Jarinje. The reason was that he was carrying the seals of this school,” stated the director of the so-called Serbian Office for Kosovo, Petar Petković.
Kosovo Police confirmed to the KoSSev portal that they questioned the individual who presented himself as the principal of the school in Gojbula and seized the seals of the parallel Serbian structures that he had in his handbag. This took place late in the afternoon at the border point in Bernjak.
“Last night, Kurti’s police detained the principal of the elementary school from Gojbula in Jarinje for carrying the seals of the Serbian school,” wrote Petković on social media platform X.
He further mentioned that after being questioned, the principal was released, but the seals were confiscated.
He also stated that the European Union and the Quint countries were informed about the incident, which, according to him, “directly violates the agreement.”
“A direct attack on Serbian schools would be the end of everything,” Petković stated.
At the request of KoSSev, Veton Elshani, the Deputy Commander of the Kosovo Police in the Northern Region, confirmed that a person with the initials V. M. was detained for questioning. This person was presented as the principal of the school in Gojbula.
However, Elshani clarified that this incident took place in Bernjak, not in Jarinje.
He explained that V. M. had walked to the border crossing to enter Serbia and was carrying a bag.
“At around 14:00, in Bernjak, the police checked V. M. (born in 1980), and in his bag, they found two seals of the parallel structures in the Serbian language that read ‘Elementary School “21st November” Vushtrri’,” said Elshani.
He noted that the person was detained by border police, who opened a case. V. M. was released after questioning, and the seals were confiscated.
Elshani confirmed that the case would be handled by the Kosovo Police’s Economic Crimes Unit in South Mitrovica.
