The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) officially launched its campaign for the October 12 local elections this Saturday.
The opening ceremony began with the national anthems of Kosovo and Albania, followed by the presentation of mayoral candidates and assembly member lists who will compete in the upcoming elections.
The Mayor of Gjakova, Ardian Gjini, was the first to address the gathering, expressing confidence that AAK’s candidates across all municipalities are the best choice. He called on party structures to work hard in order to secure victories wherever they are running.
Later, Vildane Halili, candidate for Mayor of Fushë-Kosovë, took the stage. In her speech, she highlighted key priorities and reflected on her journey within the party. Halili emphasized that leadership in AAK is seen as both a responsibility and a unique strength, unlike any other political force. As a woman, she said she felt “extremely proud” of what the Alliance has achieved during her 10 years of engagement.
The closing remarks were delivered by the party leader, Ramush Haradinaj, who praised his colleagues’ work and urged unity and dedication:
“I am proud of my colleagues. Seeing leaders like Ardian, who elevated governance to a higher level, is inspiring. Without you, this isn’t just a political party — you are more than that. You provide an example of proper governance through your work in municipalities. Our Republic has never needed such commitment more than today. We are facing dark days, but don’t stop — work with dedication, because all eyes are on you.”
Currently, AAK governs five municipalities: Gjakova, Rahovec, Suhareka, Klina, and Deçan.
