The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, stated after meeting with President Vjosa Osmani that it has become clear there is no parliamentary majority to form a new government.

Speaking to Ekonomia Online, Abdixhiku emphasized that the next step now lies with the President, who must decide on setting a date for new elections.

“In this meeting, it became clear once again that there is no parliamentary majority. It is up to the President to determine whether such a majority exists. The leader of Vetëvendosje claims it should be tested once more, but most political parties made it clear they do not have the numbers,” Abdixhiku said.

He added that discussions focused on budgetary issues and transitional governance, including the possibility of extending the old budget until elections are held.

“We did not discuss dates or agreements, only our political positions. The sooner elections are set, the sooner a new government can be formed to adopt a new budget. We have officially declared that we lack both the possibility and legitimacy to form a governing majority,” Abdixhiku concluded.
