Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), today met with Dame Karen Pierce, the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, at the LDK headquarters.

Abdixhiku stated that their discussions included the institutional crisis currently affecting Kosovo. He emphasized the urgent need to form legitimate and functional institutions, asserting that the delay in this process is directly impacting the daily lives of citizens.

“Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming to the Central Headquarters the Special Envoy of Great Britain for the Western Balkans, Ms. Karen Pierce,” Abdixhiku said. “She is not only knowledgeable about our state-building journey but a diplomat with an active history in this journey. In her current role, her presence is an excellent opportunity for the Republic of Kosovo.”

Beyond the institutional deadlock, Abdixhiku also addressed Kosovo’s aspirations for rapid integration into the Euro-Atlantic family. He highlighted the favorable geopolitical opportunities and growing European interest in Albania and Montenegro, suggesting Kosovo should align itself with their progress rather than being held back by issues with Serbia. “For this, we need a responsible government that seizes historical opportunities,” he noted.

Abdixhiku concluded by expressing his “deep gratitude” for the UK’s ongoing support in strengthening Kosovo’s democratic institutions and its international journey.
