Abdixhiku Meets Swedish Ambassador Westerlund Presents Proposal for a Transitional GovernmentToday, the President of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, hosted Swedish Ambassador to Kosovo, H.E. Jonas Westerlund, at the party’s headquarters to discuss the ongoing political and institutional crisis in the country.
During the meeting, Mr. Abdixhiku presented LDK’s proposal for the formation of a National Transitional Government, describing it as a temporary, responsible, and necessary solution to overcome the current parliamentary deadlock and restore institutional functionality.
He emphasized that the repeated failure of the Assembly to convene now for the 15th time has paralyzed the state, negatively affecting citizens’ daily lives and eroding trust in public institutions.
“The prolongation of this crisis is making daily life increasingly difficult and rendering the state non-functional. Our proposal provides a reasonable path forward, capable of restoring stability and preparing the ground for free and fair elections in a calm institutional climate,” Abdixhiku stated.
In addition to addressing the political impasse, the two also discussed bilateral cooperation, with Abdixhiku expressing gratitude for Sweden’s consistent support for Kosovo’s democratic and developmental processes.
“We are grateful for Sweden’s longstanding and continued support to Kosovo,” Abdixhiku concluded.
