The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, wrote on Facebook about the result achieved in the parliamentary elections of February 9th.

Abdixhiku said that in the end, LDK will receive around 20% of the votes, adding that this is an electoral increase from 12% to 20%.

However, he emphasized that these elections were not won, stating that he respects the decision of the citizens.

He also expressed criticism of the Central Election Commission (CEC) for the delay in counting the votes.

“Besides this, we also have a CEC that couldn’t do even the most basic thing for which it had four years to prepare – like counting the votes. Go back to the classic method! This is how counting is done,” Abdixhiku said.

Below is Abdixhiku’s post:

Dear supporters,

I truly wanted to wait for the final count – even 100,000 more votes – before we started the post-election discussion; but in this current political toxicity, even waiting for something basic seems impossible.

Besides this, we also have a CEC that couldn’t do even the most basic thing for which it had four years to prepare – like counting the votes. Go back to the classic method! This is how counting is done!

Now, as for the result.

Yes, LDK will have 180,000 votes in the end.

Yes, LDK will reach around 20%.

Yes, this is a good result after a historic decline.

Heads up, everyone!

It’s important that we have rediscovered each other, we have returned to the base. It’s important that we have regained our historical numbers. This is our foundation!

LDK did not win the elections, we would have liked that, we know that, but LDK is expected to add 80,000 votes; going from 12 to 20% will prove to be an extraordinary achievement. Wait a few days. We didn’t start the race with 50% or even 20%. We were only at 12%! Today, we rely on the citizenship that gives us both peace and momentum for a new journey!

Despite everything, as I said in the election night conference, this result is not a result of change for Kosovo; because the people of Kosovo have different preferences. We respect that.

I will respect these preferences because I don’t know any other way! The positions of mine and LDK before the election remain promises of today. Let’s get used to a policy where keeping promises is a basic standard and where taking power at any cost is not the goal!

In any case, we will decide on all of this as one!

LDK is the home of democracy!

Let’s wait for the counts!

Let’s move forward in the way we know!

There will be light again!
