Artan Abrashi, the Vetëvendosje (VV) candidate for mayor of Prizren, has officially secured the backing of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) ahead of the municipal election runoff against incumbent Shaqir Totaj of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).

Besnik Krasniqi, head of AAK’s branch in Prizren, announced that the coalition agreement was signed “based on the decision of the AAK Prizren Branch Presidency and in accordance with the Statute of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.”

“AAK in Prizren remains committed, in line with our political and developmental program, to always stand by the citizens and serve their interests,” said Krasniqi.

The coalition aims to consolidate opposition votes in Prizren, one of the most closely watched municipalities in Kosovo’s local elections. With AAK’s support, Abrashi is expected to strengthen his position in the second round, where competition with Totaj remains tight.

Observers view the alliance as both a strategic local move and a potential signal of broader political cooperation between Vetëvendosje and AAK at the municipal level.
