Petar Petković, director of the so-called “Office for Kosovo” in the Serbian government, reacted strongly to statements by Riho Terras, the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Kosovo. Terras had accused Serbia on Friday evening of interfering in Kosovo’s local elections. He stated that the Serbian state’s support for a single political party in Kosovo’s elections is now very clear.

In response, Petković labeled Terras as a “Prishtina lobbyist”, adding that he had been largely forgotten because he “never reacted to Kurti’s terror.”

“Where were you, Riho, when Kurti was closing Serbian institutions, arresting Serbs, holding fake elections, banning Cyrillic script and the dinar? You were nowhere, because you are a false envoy, just as your concern for everyone in Kosovo is false!” Petković wrote.

This exchange underscores the ongoing tensions between Serbia and Kosovo over electoral influence and the role of international oversight in the region.
