Zagreb, July 30, 2025 — Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, took part in the Croatian Armed Forces’ military parade marking the 30th anniversary of Operation “Storm” — a decisive military campaign in Croatia’s struggle for independence.
Maqedonci joined the event at the invitation of Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Ivan Anušić, and paid tribute to the operation’s historic significance, emphasizing the shared values and enduring alliance between Kosovo and Croatia.
In his remarks, Maqedonci highlighted the contribution of ethnic Albanians in the operation:
“Many Albanians participated in this campaign, contributing to the liberation of Croatia.”
He added that today, Kosovo and Croatia stand together as partners for peace and security in the region, building on a legacy forged through shared struggle.
“At the Croatian Army Parade marking the 30th anniversary of Operation ‘Storm’ (Oluja), a pivotal moment in Croatia’s liberation, I had the honor of attending by invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić. The parade was the largest of its kind since Croatia’s independence on June 25, 1991.”
Maqedonci recalled that Operation “Storm”, conducted from August 4 to 7, 1995, targeted forces of the self-proclaimed Republic of Serbian Krajina and continued with fighting until August 14. The operation was instrumental in concluding the Croatian War of Independence (1991–1995).
