Pristina, July 22, 2025 — Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, has strongly condemned recent statements by Serbian officials regarding a property dispute in northern Kosovo, calling them part of a dangerous disinformation campaign orchestrated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

In a Facebook post, Sveçla shared the official response from the Kosovo Agency for Property Comparison and Verification (AKKVP), which clarified that the disputed property—cited by Serbian officials as being unjustly seized—legally belongs to the Shipolli family and has been formally recognized since 2005. The agency emphasized that all actions taken were fully in line with final decisions from Kosovo’s judicial institutions.

Sveçla accused Serbia of fabricating false narratives to manipulate public opinion and invoked a powerful historical comparison:

“As stated by one of the chief ideological architects of Serbian war crimes in the late 20th century, Dobrica Ćosić—that lying is a Serbian national interest—Vučić and his entourage are diligently trying to live up to that legacy,” Sveçla wrote.

He firmly rejected these efforts and reassured the public that law and truth will prevail in the Republic of Kosovo:

“Their efforts are in vain. In our Republic, not only will the truth prevail, but also law, order, and the rule of justice—always and everywhere.”

Sveçla’s remarks come amidst heightened tensions in northern Kosovo, where Serbia continues to push politically charged narratives that challenge Kosovo’s sovereignty and the legitimacy of its institutions.
