Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stated that according to available information, the Serb citizen in Leposaviq—who, according to authorities, was shot and abducted by the Serbian Gendarmerie—was targeted because he opposes the policies and regime of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

The Kosovo Police announced on November 3 that M.V., a citizen of Kosovo, was allegedly shot and abducted on November 1 within Kosovo’s territory near the border with Serbia, and was later transported to a hospital in Niš according to witnesses.

Kurti emphasized that the incident occurred inside Kosovo’s territory, accusing Serbia of ongoing aggression:

“It is clear that our northern neighbor continues with its attacks aimed at disciplining the Serbs and destabilizing Kosovo. But I am confident that with our security and intelligence institutions, in cooperation with international partners, Serbia will fail on both fronts,” Kurti said at a press conference on November 4.

He called for strong international support for Kosovo and condemnation of those who order and carry out such criminal, destabilizing acts.

Kurti added that since the incident occurred, the Kosovo Police, with the assistance of NATO’s KFOR peacekeeping mission, have been present at the scene conducting investigations.
