On Friday, the Ad Hoc Committee for the selection of candidates for members of the Independent Media Commission (KPM) failed to review the list of candidates, as the administration had not finalized a list identifying those who meet the criteria and those who do not.
Members present at the meeting included MPs Alban Bajrami (committee chair), Ariana Musliu-Shoshi (first deputy chair), Arbëreshë Kryeziu-Hyseni, Egzon Azemi, Fitim Haziri, Nezir Kraki, Fridon Lala, and Time Kadrijaj.
Initially, committee chair Bajrami stated that they had expected the administration to present a list outlining which candidates meet the criteria.
“We expected today that the administration would provide a list describing which candidates meet the conditions and which do not. But they have only provided descriptions, leaving it to us to decide. I propose that until Tuesday, candidates who have not yet submitted all documents be given the opportunity to do so, and then we can proceed,” Bajrami said.
On the other hand, MPs Musliu-Shoshi and Kadrijaj argued that the list of eligible candidates should be prepared by the Legal Department.
“It is standard practice for the Legal Department to assess this; it is not the role of MPs to determine who meets the criteria to move to the interview phase. They should provide us with the final list,” Kadrijaj said.
Despite the discussions, Bajrami concluded that the committee would not request the administration to compile the list but would instead review each candidate individually at the next meeting.
“We will address this list on Tuesday because today it is not possible. We will go through each case one by one. We are no longer asking the administration to handle this; we will decide ourselves whether each candidate meets the criteria,” Bajrami stated.
