After 27 Years, Rasim Koçi’s Body Found; Brother Speaks: “Now We Are More at Peace”

After more than two decades of waiting and uncertainty, the Koci family has received the long-awaited news: the body of Rasim Mehmet Koci, who went missing on April 1, 1999, during the war in Kosovo, has been identified.

Sadik Koci, Rasim Mehmet Koci’s brother, shared his emotions in Dukagjin, stating that the discovery of his brother’s body is a huge relief for the family.

“It is a great relief for us, because now we know where he is buried. We also feel much freer now that we know. Many years have passed, and hopes were small. Thank God this has happened…” said Koci.

Rasim Mehmet Koci was killed during the war, and according to his family, his body went missing. The Koci family suffered heavy losses during the conflict, losing a total of three martyrs, including Afrim Idriz Koci and Besim Idriz Koci, who were killed in March 1999.

Tributes for Rasim Mehmet Koci will be held on January 31, from 12:00 to 13:00 at the Palace of Culture in Gjakovë, while the burial will take place at 13:30 at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Qabrat.
