The head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) branch in Obiliq, Xhafer Gashi, has announced his resignation from all party positions following his party’s loss in the municipality’s runoff elections.
In a public statement, Gashi acknowledged that despite the efforts made during the campaign, the final result was not as expected.
“The result is clear — they are ahead. We wish them success in their work. Over the past 12 years, we have achieved a lot together,” Gashi said.
He expressed gratitude to his colleagues and LDK supporters for their dedication, adding that he takes full responsibility for the outcome.
“I thank every one of you. Since we tried to organize ourselves but perhaps did not succeed, I, as the head of the LDK branch in Obiliq, take responsibility for the loss and resign from the General Council, the Presidency, and my position as branch chairman,” he declared.
In conclusion, Gashi emphasized that LDK remains strong despite the electoral setback.
“LDK has never been stronger than it is today,” he concluded.
